Human Reiki

The giving of Reiki from Practitioner to client is a simple process. The client can lay on a treatment bed or sit in an arm chair, the most important thing is to feel comfortable and relaxed.

There is no need to remove any clothing as Reiki can pass through anything from bandages to plaster casts. It is nice to slip of shoes and jewellery as these help with the relaxation process.

The Practitioner will use a sequence of hand positions to give a relaxing Reiki treatment to the whole body. Sometimes specific areas may need more attention than others. A full treatment may usually take around 1-2 hours depending on what the treatment is for.

Reiki can be given anywhere anytime, it is not the place that is important. Previously, I have even given Reiki outdoors on a lovely sunny day. The Practitioner channels Reiki energy whereever they may be. It is possible to heal at any level physically, mentally, emotionally and virtually. There is no religious attachment with Reiki, all you need is a willingness to receive the healing.

Some clients, during a treatment may experience a change in body temperature, see colours or just simply fall asleep. The Reiki energy flows through the body like water in a stream soothing, cleansing and reaching areas where it's needed the most, helping the body's own natural healing to take place.

Many problems can be helped. The results depend on how long you my have had the problem and what it is, and how regularly you have treatment. Some hospitals allow Reiki to be given as long as the correct procedures are taken, i.e. talking to Doctors and Nursing staff.

Some Problems that can be helped:

  • Recovery from operations
  • Back pain
  • Injuries long or short term
  • Skin conditions
  • Stress and anxiety
  • Bereavement
  • Addictions
  • The list is endless.

After a treatment, most people are relaxed and peaceful, even sleepy. Reiki may stir up emotions, feeling tired or energised is all part of the healing process. Some may also experience other healing reactions, such as flue like symptoms or headaches. This normally only lasts a few days and is also part of the healing process. Drinking plenty of water and resting as much as you can will help.

Choosing the right Practitioner can be hard. If some one is recommended this is always a good way to start. If not, phone around and ask questions, i.e. How long have they been a Practitioner, how long is a treatment, what are their fees. Trust in your own instincts and intuition, if they feel right go for it, if not then don't. What may be right for one person may not be right for another, never be afraid to change Practitioners, they will understand if you don't gel. But most of the time when you find one it will be right.

All Practitioners should have a high standard of practice, and follow a code of ethics just like a Doctor.
