All animals large and small can receive and
benefit from Reiki. I say animals, but I have also worked with tropical fish and sea anemones!
The lovely thing about working with animals is that they
are very open to nature and natural ways, and welcome the Reiki energy, socking it up like a sponge. Most of our animals' problems are down to living with and around
people and the stress we some times put them under. Their surroundings are nothing like nature intended.
Even though evolution has brought change, animals across the board hold onto there deep natural instincts. In the wild,
animals' prime objectives are to survive, feed and reproduce.
Take a few moments to think about your own animals and what life might have been like for
them in the wild.
Now we ask them to perform, to be on there own, to wait for us
to provide food and water, exercise and healthcare. Sometime we even choose there mate. We then take
away there off-spring. We love our animals dearly and only want the best for them all these things are against
the natural way, not always but sometimes can course problems. Remember our loving animals can often pick up on our
stress and upsets in our lives which rubs off on them.
Reiki can help with many different issues , some listed below:
- Stress, depression, lethargy
- Eating disorders, lost of appetite
- Injury iether long or short term
- Pain releif / Skin conditions
- Behavior
- Bereavement
- animals suffer the loss the same as people
Reiki can work well alongside conventional medicine and other therapies. I have also found Reiki
to succeed when Vets have exhausted all avenues open to them.
This method of healing is recognised by the RCV'S
(Royal College Veterinary Surgeons).
When
giving a Reiki treatment I like animals to be in their own surroundings - moving them to a strange place
can often bring on stress and hinder any work done. Moreover, their home environment can sometimes hold the key
to their problem. For treatment, finding a warm, calm place between mealtimes is ideal. The owner should
always be present for all treatments.
An
animals reaction during a treatment varies. Some can take a little time to let the Reiki energy in as they have not felt it
before and are a little wary. This is good as it is part of there natural instincts to question something new. As they
relax some will start mouthing, the tummy may rumble some may move away needing to go to the loo. Cats and Dogs nearly always
flop down and go to sleep; horses tend to rest a back leg and their bottom lip goes floppy - I've even seen them
dribble.
Some become so relaxed thery just have to lay down.
After a treatment it is always good to allow them to eat, drink, relax, sleep and
have some downtime for the body settle.
The
same as conventional treatments recovery and healing depends on what the problem is and how long it's been with
them. Arthritis is one health issue that benefits from regular monthly visits, this can also be achieved by using distance
healing.
